Camps will be held June 21 – July 30 for campers ages 4-10. Each of the six weeks will be based upon a different theme and activities will vary daily; families are welcome and encouraged to sign up for several weeks!
Music & Culture (June 28 – July 2)
Make some noise! This week we will discover unique sounds from different cultures all around the world. We will explore music from South America to Africa to China. Our art projects will include rain-sticks and instrument painting collages. We will learn all about waves, vibration, and the science of sound in the STEM zone. Campers will try out new instruments, discover the difference in music across cultures and even learn a few dance moves. Games will keep us moving, too; what would Music Week be without a few rounds of Musical Chairs? Our guest presenter is a band director who will demonstrate a variety of instruments – and give kids a chance to try some out!
Storybook Adventure (July 5 – July 9)
Who’s up for an adventure? Let’s rev those imaginations! This week children will be detectives, explorers, storytellers, and more. Campers will create their own storybooks, from developing characters and adding illustrations all the way to binding their own books! We’ll stretch our STEM muscles creating and launching mini boats and building sturdy houses for The Three Little Pigs. With our guest presenter, a storyteller, children will travel a magical journey, and learn just how far their minds can take them!
Wildlife Science (July 12 – July 16)
Join us as we roar, grrrr, slither and creep through the forest, desert, and jungle. This week will learn all about wildlife from around the world. In the STEM Zone, children will decipher animal footprints and learn about the food chain. We will celebrate animals and their habitats with art projects like mixed media jungles and sun prints. Games such as elephant feet races and saving ocean animals from melting ice caps will exercise our bodies – and our imaginations! The Adventure Zone will feature animal explorations from around the world. Campers will meet rabbits, snakes, turtles, and other critters when our guest presenter visits Wednesday.
Art & Culture (July 19 – July 23)
If you love getting messy, using your imagination, and creating beautiful artwork, then this is the week for you. We will make lovely necklaces and learn about African Art and create stunning paintings as we learn about the traditional painting of Latin America. In the STEM Zone, campers will grow a rainbow, create a painting machine, and learn about the building of the Great Pyramids. Our guest presenter is, of course, an artist… and one who gets to get messy! A ceramic artist will demonstrate throwing clay on a pottery wheel, and campers will do their own hand-building project.
Science & Outer Space (July 26 – July 30)
3, 2, 1 blastoff! Welcome to Outer Space week, our final frontier! This week campers will make space rockets, astronaut ice cream, and more. Our Art Zone projects will include astronaut helmets and marble planets. Our games and adventures will be out of this world: asteroid toss, space tag, constellation exploration, to name a few! Our guest presenter, an earth and space teacher, will bring spectral glasses to teach us about light and space.
Duration: Camp will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with flexible pickup times.
Activity Zones: Campers will travel in small groups (not to exceed 12 campers) through a variety of activity zones. We plan to have 3 tent areas, story circle, a game area, exploration area (water and sand tables and more) the meadow, and perhaps the museum. We will limit group sizes in accordance with CDC guidelines and state regulations.
Weather: Safety is paramount. Thunder and lightning occurring after 8:30 am will cancel camp for the day. Adults are asked to pick up their child promptly. Campers will be kept indoors until your arrival. No refunds will be issued for weather unless camp is canceled prior to 8:00 am. In the event of a full-day closure, a credit of $15 per occurrence will be issued.
COVID-19: We will require all campers, staff, and volunteers to wear masks at all times (except snack/lunch). Temp check upon arrival. Parents/guardians will be required to verify campers are symptom-free, they have not traveled out of the country in 14 days, and have not been exposed to anyone who tested positive within 10 days. Campers must sanitize their hands upon arrival.
Registration: Online registration is preferred. Once a family is registered, children can be added and camp weeks, as well as other events, can be selected. All required forms should be completed online and will be available upon sign-up. Forms to include emergency contact, waiver, health check & insurance (including allergies).
Snacks: A choice of a snack and drink (water or juice) will be available for campers daily. Those campers staying for afternoon sessions are to bring a bag lunch. No refrigeration will be provided.
